Sellers, brace yourselves! These new features are game changers. And you should know, you requested them! Read on to find how how we’re making selling even simpler and faster than ever before.

Create Sales Using Automatic Price Drop

Now there’s a setting to put your items on sale automatically! Simply set the minimum price you’re willing to sell your item for when you edit your listing or upload a new one (visitors can’t see this). Over time, we’ll drop the price until it sells or reaches your minimum.

Each time your item drops in price, it appears in the Sale tab, and your followers receive an alert about the price drop! That means more eyes on your items and an increased chance of selling them fast!

Stay in the Know

We’ve built a one-stop shop for all your notifications! Click the bell icon to see who has loved or commented on your item, as well as see who started following your closet. This way you can build relationships with your followers and never miss a comment or love! Responding to comments will help build trust and increase sales and engaging in the community brings eyes to your closet and often followers too. In the words of our TF Fashion Editor Emily, that’s a win-win-win-win!

How incredible is our community? This incredible: When a new seller reached out to super seller Sabrina Silk for tips on how to sell, not only did she put together this amazing list, but she also forwarded it along to us to share with all you Threadflippers! Can you think of anything you’d add? Share it in the comments below!

1. Take pictures in natural light; sunlight. Also, take pictures on a white background.

2. Use a DSLR, tripod, and remote if you can. The quality of camera makes a difference. The tripod and remote makes it easier to take pictures in natural light without it being blurry.

3. Sell items that are in style. See what the most popular people on Lookbook, Chictopia, and bloggers are wearing and post items that are similar. Also, people tend to look at other items in your closet if you have one item that is really popular. You can gain more likes and followers this way and hopefully make a sale!

4. Sell only items in good vintage condition or near new condition. Items in near new condition are more likely to sell and will make customers happy.

5. Write thoughtful descriptions. Put as much information as you can about the item. Since you have most likely worn it yourself, tell people what you wore it with and why you got compliments wearing it.

6. Price competitively. I had to get rid of a lot of my stuff because I was moving, so when I priced things, I had the mindset that if it didn’t sell it, it would have to be donated, so might as well make a little money off of it rather than none at all. I also state in my description that my prices are negotiable. I’m happy to give a discount for people who buy multiple items.

7. Post a link on social media sites (Facebook, Pinterest, Svpply) where you have a lot of followers, or are connected to people you know. My friends always compliment me on my sense of style, so they’re happy to know when I’m selling something from my closet, especially if they’ve been eyeing that item for awhile

Tell us a little about yourself!

I’m Caroline, but those closest to me call me Caro! I grew up in Cleveland, OH but have spent time all over the country for school and work. I love to travel, shop and exercise/eat healthy! I have a particularly cute kitty named Penny who will often make appearances in my TF photos since she’s such a ham :)

How did you get your start on Threadflip?

A friend of mine told me about it since I was trying to sell my clothes through my blog. I’ve been addicted ever since!

What has your experience on TF been like since you first joined?

A HUGE success. I used to run an ebay store back in the day and thought that went well….but Threadflip has created an amazing community of fashion lovers who love to save money!

Any memorable moments?

Finding a gorgeous Missoni dress from Editors’ Picks. I get so many compliments!

What do you think has been the key to your success so far?

Taking good quality photos that show all the angles and size. It’s also helpful to give a good and accurate description of what you’re selling. I’m much less likely to buy from someone if I notice they haven’t put any effort into their listing.

If you could give sellers one piece of advice, what would it be?

Communication is so important! Reply to questions and comments as soon as you can. Interacting with the community is key. Also, if things aren’t selling as quickly as you would like them to, you may have better success after you discount a few items.

In a team meeting a few weeks ago, Leslie, Emily, Jennie, Anika and some others said, “You know what would be great - if I got notified when a seller drops the price of an item I have loved.” And so we decided to build this little nugget of a feature.

Sellers: want your buyers to come back and check your item out? Consider dropping the price, and people who have loved that item will be emailed to come check it out. And, your items will be featured on the new “Sale” tab that is prominently displayed on the site. Learn more about how you can do this here: “How do I modify an existing listing?”

Buyers: act fast when you receive these price drop emails! These items will sell fast.

So go on, and love some items! You could get lucky and score a deal on the item :)

Hi there!

We have been thinking hard about everything you would need to operate as effectively as possible on Threadflip. So today, I’d like to announce three new things to make your lives better.

1. Want to get your own shipping label? No problem (PSST: No more $7 fee!)

Many of you have written in over the past few months asking if there was a way for you to ship items you have sold without having to get a shipping label from Threadflip. Now you can!

When you create a new listing or when you are editing an existing product you have for sale, simply select the “Me: I’ll get the shipping label myself option” and Save your listing. When the item sells, we will give you the buyer’s shipping address so you can purchase your own USPS label with a tracking number.

Don’t forget: once you have the USPS tracking number, come back to http://threadflip.com/dashboard and enter the tracking number for that sale.

2. A new dashboard, that you can take with you on the go

Let’s be honest, the old flips page where you managed your sales was kind of a nightmare to navigate. We took all your feedback and we’ve designed a dashboard for you.

The new dashboard gives you the ability to:

Check the status of any of your Sales or any of your Purchases quickly
Print your shipping labels or enter tracking numbers for your new sales with ease
Get tracking information for any of your orders
Check your account credit and cashout with PayPal or by requesting a check

Oh, and one more thing: Anxious to know what the status of those shoes you bought? The new Threadflip Dashboard was built for you to take with you on the go on your smartphone. Visit the dashboard from your iPhone or Android device and you will get a nice mobile optimized version of the dashboard.

Where? Threadflip Dashboard, or, simply click My Orders in the top right-hand corner drop-down menu.

3. Over that sweater you bought last christmas? Sell it with 1 click.

Selling on Threadflip just got way easier. If you bought an item on Threadflip, but are looking to make some space for some new things, well, you can now do that with just 1 click.

Visit your dashboard, tap on Purchases, and simply click on the “Relist this Item!”. And that item will instantly become available in your closet for sale.

My mom still has a cedar chest full of old clothes from as early as the 60s. We’ve gone through it a million times, but it’s always fun to recount her memories of each piece (in addition to making fun of some baaad style choices). Her mom made a lot of her clothes growing up, including a her prom dress. And I wear the sizes she did growing up, so I get to try all of it on! I even snagged a pair of her up-to-there denim cutoff shorts from 1978!

Hello there! You asked, we listened. Many of you in the Threadflip community have asked for the ability to make a purchase using your PayPal account instead of using a credit card. I’m happy to announce that starting today, you will have the ability to checkout with Paypal when you make a purchase through our website..

How does this work?

1. Add some items to your cart.

2. Visit your cart. Here you will see the option to “Checkout with Paypal”. Click on that button.

3. When you visit Paypal.com, sign in with your information and authorize the payment.

4. Come back to Threadflip.com and hit ‘Place Your Order’. And voila, you’re done!

Alright ladies, it’s time to get real. Like, really real. Here at TF HQ we’re working triple time to build a community of amazing women who feel comfortable buying from and selling to each other based on mutual trust and respect. But every once in a while, someone comes along who isn’t really on the same page. Maybe it’s intentional and maybe it’s not, but they’re going against our policies and giving us a serious case of the sads. “But Threadflip,” you say, “what are you talking about?” Here are two examples:

A buyer approaches you about an item you have listed and asks you to send it to an international address in exchange for payment via Moneygram. You send your item but the Moneygram never arrives.

You place an order with a seller. She then messages you, letting you know she only conducts business via PayPal. You agree and send the funds but the item never shows up.

“Wait… Moneygram? PayPal?” you say, “That doesn’t sound right!” Well, it isn’t. Users directing transactions off Threadflip via these methods violate our Terms and Conditions which could result in their accounts being placed on-hold or even removed altogether. When users take transactions off our site, Threadflip no longer has any involvement and both parties are no longer protected under our policies and are at risk to lose money and/or their items with no hope of either being returned. Sounds terrible, right?

So spread the word, lovelies! We’re a sweet bunch but we’re prepared to get tough on the bad guys. If you come across a user attempting to take your money or your items off Threadflip, holler! Our capes are on and we’re ready to vanquish the villains to keep TF the best place to buy and sell your fabulous fashions! :)

How to: Get more eyes on your items! (And more flips, too!)

We’re often asked, ‘How can I make sure that gals in the community are finding my awesome items?’. Great question, right? So we’ve put together a list of easy actions that we suggest sellers take to make the most of their Threadflip experience!

First, leverage your existing networks! Chances are you’re on Facebook, or Twitter, or Instagram, or Pinterest, or Tumblr, or Vine or any combination of the many social platforms out there. What better way to boost your closet’s visibility than to promote it to people who are already interested in what you have to share? You’ll find our social sharing buttons after listing an item or on your item’s page below the cover photo. It’s easy and can boost your sales up to 300%! Visit your closet to get started!

Next, make a friend or 500! One of the best things about Threadflip is our community of wonderful, stylish girls. Liking and commenting on items and following users is a great way to connect with other Threadflippers with similar tastes to your own and bring more eyes (and followers) to your closet!

Earth Day, Threadflip Style

Here at TF HQ we have lots of love for our girl Mother Nature! In anticipation of Earth Day tomorrow, here are a few ways to lead a more stylishly sustainable life:

- Shop pre-loved threads. There are so many vintage and contemporary gems just waiting to be discovered!

- Know where your clothes come from. Was the manufacturing process eco-friendly?

- Upcycle! Tailor or DIY pieces that have potential but don’t get any wear in their current state. Check out our friend Brit’s blog for some fun ideas.

- Buy for quality. Disposing of less threads = less trash piling up in our landfills.

- And of course, donate or flip items that no longer fit you to give them a chance in another closet!
